So, our rehearsals are underway! I’m in the first of the two one-act plays A Dog’s Life ..and I’m more than qualified to write about this as most of the time as a mere male mortal my life is precisely that – A Dog’s Life! Sit! Shut up! Stop snoring! In the words of Rumpole of The Bailey (remember him?), she who must be obeyed, must be obeyed! I’ve always had a dog so I know what to do amongst an unruly pack of mongrels, which is my best description of my fellow actors in this case. My role as Warden of a dog refuge therefore comes quite naturally but I admit it’s a bit strange to be shouting at committee members to “sit”, “behave” and to “be quiet.” And as for telling a new member of the ETC that she needs a haircut, is grossly overweight and needs to be put on a diet is, in today’s world, totally unacceptable. I think our next two rehearsals are going to be quite fun!
